Resources for HEC Faculty

The HEC librarians are here to help you and your students! Please take a moment to review the available resources and services the library offers for faculty.

Instruction

Library instruction is available at HEC for both F2F and online courses. Contact Shilo Smith, the Reference & Instruction Librarian at HEC, to schedule a customized class instruction or workshop for your students.

Library Instruction and workshops include some of the following information literacy topics:

  • Library orientation
  • Evidence-based practice research
  • General search strategies and PICOT question search strategies
  • Database selection and search techniques
  • APA Style citation

Writing workshops include some of the following topics:

  • Paraphrasing strategies
  • How to avoid plagiarism
  • Research paper specific topics:
    • Pathophysiology Disease Process paper
    • Nursing Roles Organization paper

The HEC library liaison team is available to collaborate with you. We are available to discuss your course or assignment revisions related to research and writing.

Use our online form to refer students for research, writing, and APA help.

We also provide Academic Integrity (AI) remediation services with students in the library after a formal referral by an AI committee member is received. HEC Faculty may also refer students for an informal AI remediation session, contact Shilo Smith for more details. Help your students avoid an AI violation by sharing the Academic Integrity Checklist with them.

Course Content

Course modules are available for faculty to import into their online courses (APA Bootcamp and Library Orientation), please contact Shilo Smith for more details. The course modules include auto graded quizzes and optional assignments. Additionally, the liaison team has created learning objects (videos, tutorials, and handouts) related to research, writing, and APA for faculty to share with their students. Faculty can access the learning objects via the HEC Library Orientation LibGuide under the following tabs:
