Etched in Sand - Student Responses: Home

Etched in Sand by Regina Calcaterra

As part of the One Book One College 2015 program, author Regina Calcaterra visited four campuses of St. Petersburg College to speak with students, faculty, and community members about her book, Etched in Sand.  In the audience at Clearwater were several English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classes. These are students from various countries (such as Egypt, Colombia, Laos, Domincan Republic, and Cuba) who are learning to read and write academic English.  After listening to the lecture, students completed writing assignments about the challenges she and her siblings faced, strategies they used to overcome hardship, reasons for child abuse, ways to create safe and loving homes for children, etc.  We hope you enjoy reading their responses to this moving presentation.
