Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the contributions to society & culture made by Americans tracing their roots to Spain, Mexico, Central & South America, and the Spanish-speaking nations of the Caribbean. First observed in 1968 as National Hispanic Heritage Week, it was later expanded to a month-long celebration.
