Grendel by John Gardner has some of the most beautiful and heartbreaking scenes I’ve ever read. It and Wicked by Gregory Maguire are the books that taught me that there’s no one perspective for any story. The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is also top of the list!
