Speaker:
Jorge Perez, Head Librarian and Program Director, St. Petersburg College, Tarpon Springs Campus.

Florida Library Association Annual Conference: Open Libraries...Open Minds
Orlando, FL
Thursday, May 5, 2011
11:00 a.m. to 12 noon

Librarians’ devoted connection to print books is the main road block to the future vision and development of our profession. Current collection development is similar to indications of hoarding and perpetuating the “librarian stereotype.” Patrons are accessing information through several mediums and our relevance in today’s society is echoed by our print and unusable spaces. A stronger de-selection process will be introduced with a self-help approach for those who have difficulty weeding or withdrawing material.
