Lesson 5: Parallel Structure

What is parallel structure?  And why does your teacher keep writing "not parallel" on your papers?

In writing, "parallel structure" refers to using two or more words, phrases, or clauses that have similar patterns.  Even beginning ESL students can master parallel structure.  Parallel structure will make your writing clearer and easier to read.  This lesson will help you understand and review parallel structure in English as well as basic conjunction and comma rules.
